Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through many different methods, including the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components, which are components that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while other components offer general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be placed in any equipment type and offer fewer bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as Blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The amount of upgrade components required for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The price of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can lower this cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant, or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or a rune. Many can be upgraded using a suffix upgrade. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in transmitting a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also increase the recall of the message by triggering a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values it can improve a stat by in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is not the exact amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the item that you are enchanting.
Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove a glyph from a piece of you must salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered using the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards that are part of the glyph will disappear. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to add an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at once. This is useful for players who suffer a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes that are placed on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from various sources, including mysterious boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a new random affix that is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle these recycled items. This will change the layout of the item's window and let up to six items to be selected for recycling. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls roll the percentage chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, but users must be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls used in order to increase it to its final ilvl. This is evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive and it's more reasonable to let players pay for it with money or food items which would allow them to change their build without a lot of time and effort. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to implement at this point in the game's development. They're planning to include an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are item upgrader of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the upgrade value for a stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. When this is done, the new item will retain its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
When upgrading your items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions when a greater or special roll could occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a specific item type, it's likely to getting an additional level.
Upgrades can be costly particularly if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the highest level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional bonus effect. This will provide a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level, though. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and its base level. For example the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item will have a chance to get the enhanced defense of the new base type of item.
